You did not win anything

If you never entered, you cannot have won. Prize messages exist to collect a payment or your card details — never to give you money.

What prize scams look like

The message announces a win: a lottery, a draw, a raffle, a shopping voucher or a car. It arrives by SMS, WhatsApp, email or a comment on social media. To “release” the prize you are asked to pay a transfer or processing amount, confirm your card, or send your ID — and the prize never comes. In essence they are one online swindle in different shapes.

“Congratulations! Your number was selected in the draw.”
“You have won a prize — pay the transfer amount to receive it.”
“Claim your reward points before they expire.”
“Send your ID and bank details to release the prize.”
“You are our lucky customer — confirm your card to receive the amount.”

Why the “payment” is the whole scam

A real prize never depends on you paying first. Real draws do not collect a release amount, do not ask for your card, and do not need your OTP. The requested sum is small on purpose: it is the entry point for your card details, and once those are entered the page can take far more than the amount it asked for.

And the message that follows

If you answer once, your number is marked as active and the messages multiply — a bigger prize, a second draw, and an official-looking “office” with a case reference. Blocking the first message and reporting it is what stops the sequence before it costs you anything.

⚠️ You never entered the draw, the lottery or the competition.
⚠️ A payment, transfer or processing amount is required before the prize.
⚠️ A link with a countdown, or a deadline of minutes.
⚠️ Requests for your ID, card number, or the OTP “to verify the winner”.
⚠️ A sender you do not know, on WhatsApp or by short message.
What to do
Do not reply, do not click and do not pay. Block the number and delete the message. If you already sent money, call your bank immediately and ask them to stop the payment; if you sent your card details, ask them to block the card.
Remember the rule
Prize money arrives by itself. Anything that needs a payment, a code or your card details before it reaches you is not a prize.
